Plus, Company of Heroes 2 moved out of the tired battles we know too well (Battle of Normandy, anyone?) and featured an intense single-player campaign that reenacts some of the infamous battles led by the Red Army on the Eastern Front. The sequel brought a new engine with much better graphics, an improved physics engine, dynamic weather, and much more. It was hard to imagine how a sequel could significantly improve upon the legendary Company of Heroes, but CoH2 delivered. ArtĬompany of Heroes 2 on Mac: Everything you need to know I assumed that the HoMM2 engine was just an improvement of the HoMM1 engine, with some modifications and addons.Apple promised Metal would be a game-changer, but this was the first time we saw the improvements first-hand on an existing game. I was a little naive in assuming it might be a "trivial" coding job to add HoMM1 functionality to fHeroes2. New artifacts, neutral creatures, adventure map objects and secondary skills would also be interesting. Personally the thing I would like the most for the game is a new faction.

I have no great knowledge of software launch strategies so it might not be a good idea to take my advice. Something not as ambitious as a full faction, but something that would make a lot of HoMM2 players want to try out the mod.

If that is a realistic possibility, perhaps after the engine has reached the full functionality and polish of the original game, the focus of the team, should be better invested on something that could draw a lot of attention to the mod, but not require too much time and resources. Hopefully some fans of the series, which also are gifted artists will get attracted to the project as it gains fame.

I definitely understand the enormity of the task of creating new sprites in a similar style for these high resolution games. If the fheroes2 team have implemented this, I would be really impressed, but they would probably have to sample it, since it used some weird technique with the redbook audio on the original CD. The only thing that is missing is the sound that used to come when you used a map teleporter door. If you get any other problems with the game on Windows 10, I seem to remember that there was a patch/update for the windows version of HoMM2 made by the same person/people that also made some updates for HoMM4 and HoMM3. This one works on Windows 7 for me without any problems, except for a rare crash now and then, which is not much of a problem since the game autosaves every time you end your turn. Go to game library, choose Homm2 choose "view downloads", and select optional windows version on the right, under "extras". If you have HoMM2 on GOG you can find it under your game library (the website version) but it isn't available on the buy game page.
